cresties should be hatching soon...

umop_apisdn Apr 08, 2005 07:51 PM

ok, so i've got a ton of crested eggs now, and my first pair is "due". today makes day 76 since they were laid, and i just weighed the eggs and found them to be 5.2 and 5.7 grams each. they're HUGE. i've only hatched out one pair of eggs before, which was for a friend, and all i took note of was the weight, which my eggs have far surpassed. just recently, i noticed some little stripes in a few spots on the eggs, and was wondering if they're stretch marks or maybe evidence the babies have been trying to hatch out? and whats the longest time it's taken any of your cresteds to hatch out? im just too antsy and cant wait to find out what the parents can produce!

well i incubate my cresteds at room temp with my uroplatus eggs, dont know if maybe yours hatch out earlier cuz you have them warmer or whatever...

i hatched a pair for a friend that was having trouble keeping the eggs viable, and they hatched at day 75. still waiting on the 2nd one tonight...hopefully some of em will have some partial pinstriping like mom and dad. anyway, mom i checked up on mom and she's depositing her 4th clutch tonight woohoo!

Awsome about the hatching and the new eggs. I hope to sometime later in the year join the "I hatched some eggs" club.

and the clutchmate hatched out tonight around 8:30. this one actually looks like it has more patterning on the limbs and sides than the one that hatched out last night, but both are looking great.
