Crested Gecko Price

jdlyk May 16, 2003 05:01 PM

I got a price from a friend for a crested and they want $100 for it. Is this too much. If so what is average price for one. It is normal phase and captive bred. It has its tail. Thanks in advance.

Prices for cresteds is all a matter of opinion. I do not sale any of mine for under 75.00, but I do not sale many at that price (usually a higher price). I do not have to sale; therefore, I price mine at higher prices. Does this conclude mine are better than everyone elses...NO. Can you get a crested cheaper than $100.00? Yes, you can - a lot cheaper, but it all comes back to a matter of opinion --- What is the gecko worth to the buyer and what is the gecko worth to the seller? Hope this helps, and the way I look at it is this: If I have the money, and I really want it, I get it. Yes, it may "decrease" in value in the future, but I paid as much as $350.00 for babies several years ago. Opinion, opinion, opinion. Also, remember one thing...QUALITY and HEALTH COMES BEFORE PRICE!!!

I got my red flame baby for $55 from a breeder in Miami called Extreme Reptiles. They were wonderful to deal with and I know they sell normal baby cresties for $39... so including shipping, you can still be paying less than $75...

Just keep looking and doing exactly what you are doing, asking around. Everyone thinks their prices are fair, its up to you to buy from them. First thing, make sure they have a good reputation, second, make sure the baby is in good health...

I hope you find what you are looking for...Good luck!!

a range of colors and prices, and sizes!

If you have a show comming anywhere in commuting distance I would go to the show and "see everything" "take notes" and pick what you like that looks healthy for the price you want.......

best of luck to you.......

$100 is a reasonable price for a baby crested gecko. Most i have seen are priced around $120 Cdn. The rarer color morphs could go alot more but as mentioned before, supply and demadn affect things.

The problem with reptiles, and any animal for that matter, is that price is just what the seller put on the item. With hard goods, a manufacture places a desired selling price on the item, with animals, one man's gecko is anothers diamond. If two sellers were going to sell the same gecko, the price difference could be very wide. My advice to you is to shop around and find what you like that fits your budget. I would pay alittle more if I could see the animal and did not have to have it shipped before I can see it.
