undertank heating

skankingecko Apr 09, 2005 10:42 AM

I just got a new acrylic cage for my leo. I was wondering what was the best way to heat it. I would like to use an undertank heater, but I know that the heater on my old glass cage says that it is not safe for use on any surface other than glass.

Has anyone else used a U.T.H. on acrylic, or do you have any other suggestions?

You can use just about any heating element on acrylic with no ill effects. Since it is a leo and the temps will be under 100 degrees it will not harm the plastic at all. You will however need a themrostat to keep the temps at the right levels...

I use acrylic racks and what i tend to do is seperate the mat with a piece of cardboard or paper so that the acrylic does not melt or warp.
