Newbie. Eggs in Incubator, now what?

bkrdave36 Apr 09, 2005 01:31 PM

Hi All!
My 10 year old beardie layed about twenty eggs last week, they are in an incubator (vermiculite, moist, about 84 degrees)but now there is a stench and some of the eggs are discolored/ shrunken in/ and or have a touch of mold on them. I assume this is not good. How do I know which eggs are still good, and which are bad?

10 years is too old to be breeding your dragon. Most breeders retire th eir dragons at about 5-6 years.

If your dragon never has been with a male dragon, then the eggs are infertile and should just be tossed.

The fact you are getting a stink, some or all the eggs are bad. Remove any that obviously stink themselves, are completely covered in mold or discolored. The shrunken in ones may just need more humidity to fill out again.

Thanks for the reply. As info, this was not an intended breeding. We were not expecting her to even produce any eggs. I'll go clear out the bad eggs and see if anything happens in the next few weeks with the remainders.
