ball forgotten smell of rats?

peteralbrian Apr 09, 2005 05:51 PM

my ball.. around 1.5 years old used to gulp down frozen thawed rats very well.. was a pig as such. as partially expected he went off feed in september and ate only once in november, even though lights and temps were the same. he started being active in jan. i started offering food to no avail. i did not worry knowing that they can be picky. reluctantly i started offering fresh killed and live pinks as time passed by. today i scented a live fuzzy with a mouse and down he went into the ball's belly.

is this common with balls? i never really read or wondered about it. so am i back to square one with retraining him? well at least it was still a rat after all. next dead and then no scent at all....

...BPs go into fasts (anorexia) like few other snakes on this planet...some fast at the wrong time of the year..they'll fast during the summer and feed during the winter...others follow the book...no rhyme or reason...

...odors/smells trigger primal instinctual behaviors when conditions are to a particular snake's liking...
