HERE IS A QUESTION FOR ALL U EXPERTS

shhawke Apr 09, 2005 10:48 PM

ok... in the post below she stated that she bread her girl to two different males......
last i heard they were trying to figure out if an anoconda in the wild was fertalized by more then one father or just one and i have not heard any results from that study...

but it that is possible then why would you want to breed to more then one father if their not the same morph???

i'm not trying to critasize so please dont get offended... i just want to understand...

thanks

In some cases you may have a male who is a less then stellar breeder and you would use another male as a backup to help increase the likelyhood that a litter will be produced. A litter of unclear potential hets is better then no litter at all.

The reason I used a Het Albino male and a normal is because what Randy stated in his post. Also I was not really concerned with having het albinos or not I was more interested in seeing what the Boawoman Hypo? would produce.
I introduced my normal male in October and he lost interest in early December, this is when I put the Het Albino in with her.
Concerning litters with two fathers, I have seen litters before posted here on Kingsnake where someone used a Motley and Arabesque male to breed a normal female or something similar to that. The outcome was several motleys and several arabesque babies in the litter. This proves that the female can get fertilized by two different males in the same breeding.

i hope i dont offend you but i'm just curous...

why dident your interduce your hypo first???

im my opinion it would have been in your best intrest to do it the other way around... i have been doing this for a long time and it seems that you were not patient...
i am really not trying to be rude... i have only been on this site for a month or so and i have never talked to other breeders before... i am just trying to understand why u dident do it the other way around..

Just curious what you mean by you have been doing this for a long time? Are you a breeder? What have you produced? Just curious, I don't want to offend you.

yes i am a breeder... i breed Green Tree Pythons...
my main focus as far as boas is on Peruvian... but i also deal with columbian, and pastels...
i'm working on a project right now that you might find to be intresting, but i'll wait to announce until after the babies are born...

I was not interested in getting het albinos is the reason I did not just introduce the het albino male first. I was more interested in seeing the outcome from my female. I wanted to know by my own breeding if my females trait was co-dominate or recessive. I chose the normal male because he is super clean and has a really nice color. I figured this would just improve the lineage in the long run. And by the way she is a he, referring to me (LOL).

Here is a picture of the normal male.

i dident realize that i did that.. i dont know why i would refer to you as a female... lol... my bad

thanks for explaining that...
i have been breeding snakes for the better part of 10 years now... however i have never sold any snakes inside the US... i live in kansas and i have a buyer in norway that i have been selling to since i started... so if anyone on here is from europe you probably have some on my babies...

i also sell GTP's to the same guy...

i was told about this site about a month ago and i am impressed... i have never talked to other breeders before...

i am in the middle of making a new morph right now... it kinda happened on accident, but i think its awesome and i think they will sell real well... i have proved it 3 times now and i must admit that its getting a little expensive to house all the offspring... but once i let them go i'm sure the public and breeders alike will like the morph...

bravo on your clutch... please post more pics...
