Hi,

How well do house snakes sell?

I bred house snakes for years. I used to worry about selling all the babies (I often got 4 clutches a year from my females so I produced 100 babies a year). But in hindsight, I sold every baby I ever produced, usually without much problem. Of course, I sold my babies for $15-$25 each, so I guess I made some money off them.

The key to selling housesnakes was educating the consumer. I attended expos and had housesnake caresheets that I gave out with every baby. Plus, I developed a website here on kingsnake to try and spread the word about these amazing (and prolific) little beasts.

I think most of the morphs are overpriced, particularly the albinos. I think when the albinos are down to $50-$75 each, they will be easy to sell.

I agree, every breeder I have ever heard speak of them has stated that they never had a problem selling the offspring, and even had people lined up waiting for them.

If there's a house snake "boom" and they suddenly become really popular, I imagine that will change, as they are so very prolific.
