how odd is this?

my BD is over a year old, full grown.. but still prefers crix & mealies over his greens. He will not turn down a bug, yet only picks at his salad. I sometimes have to dangle the salad over his head to trigger a response. Any ideas why?

I just got a nice,, freah,, steamy,, poop sample (LOL) to bring to the vets tomorrow morning just to be on the safe side. It can't hurt, besides.. He hasn't had a fecal check yet anyway.

I'll post an update if anything's found.

I would cut back on the insects to 2-3 times a week and offer those greens every day. He may start eating the greens more if that is all that is available. On the days you feed insects, drop the crickets right the salad bowl (the dragon's bowl, not the big one people use LOL) and let them borrow under the greens to hide. This should result in the dragon eating greens with his crickets. Unless he is really good at picking crickets without greens.

Another suggestion is to cut out the mealies altogether, instead using superworms, silkworms, butterworms or roaches, as these have much better nutrician than a mealworm or cricket actually. (except for the superworms).

In my experience with my beardies they both have different tastes. You might be feeding yours things that it doesn't like. My male likes anything leafy but my female likes anything with a sweet flavor. Maybe you should try a few new foods to see if maybe that will help or try a small amount of fruit to get your beardie started. I wouldn't suggest fruit over vegetables but a little fruit now and then won't hurt them. My female loves grapes, apple or pear as a treat now and then, my male gets dandilion flowers and rose petals as a treat. It may take a few tries but it really all depends on the animals tastes in the end.
