Waiting for her feed

phobos Apr 10, 2005 11:35 AM

My animals know what day feeding occurs. My C. cerastes moved over to the glass and rested her head on the rail this morning in antcipation some food was on it way. I keep the room lights off and just work with the cage lights unless I really need full lighting.

Nice Al! Perhaps Cerastes are hard wired because mine exhibit very similar behaviors. And probably like your's, once that cage door slides open, watch out! This species, with their ambush tendencies, can literally "jump" nearly their entire body length when attacking prey. Thanks for sharing, Rob

Yes, she flies throught he air with the greatest of ease. Even I know it's coming she still scares the hell out of me when she does that... I was waiting for my baby squams to finish eating when I saw her watching and took the picture. Creastes is a great species to keep.

Hope all is well Rob.

That is a great looking snake,I hope you don't mind me asking but where did you get it? Just asking becouse I would like to go to south Nevada and look for rattlesnakes. I am in Oregan and all U.S. Crotalus except native to Oregon, v. oreganus and v. lutosus are on the prohibited list. I am going to try to get a permit but i don't know how difficult that is or if it's even possible. Then I checked in California and it is ok to collect but you can not bring them out of the state. So I checked with Nevada and it is ok there. I have not checked with Arizona yet. Any way, where are you and do you have that much restriction on what you can keep?
And again, nice snake.

Hi Dean:

Most of my animals came from Glades Herps. I've had nothing but good experiences with them.

Here she is being sociable....

Thanks Al, very nice set up as well... can I request a pic of that Taylor's cantil?

Her ya go... I'm not sure why but she is difficult to get a picture of that I'm happy with. This one is ok but I know I can do better. Her dark features overlayed with the Yellows & Oranges just don't photograph well.
