Well, I've had this female for quite a while. Never refused a single meal....until about 3 weeks ago, and she hasnt eaten since, not even live food. She sniffs it, and then starts displaying at it with her hood and hissing and striking like shes afraid of it. Any thoughts?

My male Western Tycho (18" now) seems to have to go through some preliminaries before eating- if I just put a f/t mouse in there it will just sit uneaten, but if I tease him with it unil he hisses at it or even hammers it with his nose a couple of times, then set it down, he will eat it in a couple of minutes when he calms down. It works best if I tap him on the back with it, he gets all feisty, then goes to hide in his hide- I then set the mouse at the entrance to the hide and walk away and it will be gone in a couple of minutes.

BTW he is entirely docile to handling, he will curl up like a rattler when the lid is taken off, but never hisses or strikes at a hand. I can just set him on my desk while I work on the computer and he will just curl up and stay there indefinitely. It's hard to remember to put him back away!

If she is female (as you stated) then she could be ovulating. Many snakes refuse food during ovulation as well as when they are about to lay.
It is that time of year.
