fourstrings88 Apr 10, 2005 07:29 PM

I am having some problems with this I have realized I am not properly gutloading my crix for my leopard geckos and Collard lizard. So I just wanted to know what evryone uses weather its home-made or from cricketfood.com(which is where I might get mine) I would like to know what is the best for you. Also I have heard some controversy abotu fish flakes becuase even though they have the same ingredinets as most cricket gutloaders they are filled with artificial colouring and preservatives.
Let me know

THANKS!

have to get just about all their nurishment from these bugs, so if your bugs are not healthy, and well fed, than either are your lizards.

I bed my crickets and supers in oatmeal, I feed them collards kale, squash, radishes, carrot slices, potato slices, oranges, other fruits such as apple slices, cereal, dried cat, or dog food, rodent blocks, weeds/dandelions clover sometimes fish food.

Crickets are cannibals and will eat just about anything, just make sure its healthy!

I just had to fatten up my female after her first clutch of eggs. I fed her some fat gut loaded crickets. I fed the crickets carrots, strawberry tops, fluckers cricket food, orange peel, some potato peel and a few other things I had around, it seams to do well. Also wax worms work well especialy with young that you want to fatten up quickly, and they love them. I also have given them a pinkie or two but remember these are like eating a stick of butter so don't fead them too often. My female gained her weight back really quick with the diet I gave her. You can also try some greans just to mix up their diet for collards, I don't know about Leopad geckos. Offer some dandelion flowers, most people don't have a problem finding them in their grass just be sure their are no pesticide on them. Some of my Collards have eaten them some have not so give it a try. I just feel it is very important to give your collard a variety of food to keep them nice and happy, hope this helps to make him/her good and fat.

i usually just chop some veggies in a foood prcessor, not too much but enough to make small pieces. i put whatever i can find in there, lettuce, celery, carrots, squash, kale(dark greens are the best). then after i chop it all up i put it in a container and stick it in the freezer. when i feed the crickets the food thews out and they drink the water on it also. seems to work for me. i also keep my crix and supers in regular oatmeal which helps with the smell as well.
