Shameful Plug for upcoming reptile event in Chicago

Carmichael Apr 10, 2005 07:36 PM

Hello everyone,

If anyone is in the Chicago area, we have a great event called Reptile Rampage that is being hosted by the Wildlife Discovery Center and sponsored by CroFab (thanks CroFab!). Although we'll have lots of people exhibiting harmless herps, this is also the only "education-only" reptile exhibit/show that features venomous herps (ironically, the Chicago Herp Society, the largest in the country, will not even allow professionals representing recognized institutions like mine to display even so much as a gila monster at their big event!...the public loses on that one). Here's the details:

Location: Lake Forest Recreation Center, 400 Hastings Road, Lake Forest, IL 60045
Date: Sunday, April 17
Time: 10am to 4pm
Fee: $5 donation (all proceeds will go towards the Wildlife Discovery Center's animal collection AND a donation will be made for several worldwide herp conservation efforts)

We will have many various vipers, elapids, crotalines and everything in between. If you can't make it, and, if any of you are ever in the Chicago area, drop me a line and I will give you a personal tour of our facility; one of the largest public displays of venomous herps in the country. Our "The Grass Is Rattling" exhibit, sponsored by TAP Pharmaceutical, is one of the most innovative conservation programs and exhibits that features rattlesnakes. Hope to see some of you there!

...I leave for Costa Rica on Thursday for 5 days of croc work, and 7 days of herping on the Osa Peninsula.

Hope you have a good turnout.
