One of the most pleasurable snakes to handle, in my opinion. I had to carry this snake with me for a few kilometeres back to base to get my camera, it seemd to enjoy the ride (I took it back to where I found it for those naturalistic shots in the post below).

Nice specimen, what type of habitat was it located?

This specimen was found on a tank-access road in Fort McCoy in Wisconsin (we had clearance). The roads are only sporadically traversed and a lot of herps can be found along the edge (unfortunately it is not open to the public, we had research permits).
