Thought I'd share some good news and get some feedback from any who have the experience. I discovered, to my pleasant surprise, a tiny little newly metamorphasized Imitator in the the tank tonight picking off springtails in the largest brom I've got in the tank near the floor. This would be a juvi from the original parents and one that is from a subsequent clutch then the one I discovered nearly 10 months ago. So now the tank, as far as I know, has one adult pair, one nearly full grown offspring, and one newly metamorphasized offspring. I have not yet been able to see what goes on after the egg laying, to the transport of the tad by the Dad. I never know if anything is alive until I see the new frog. This time I saw the frog so much earlier as it is so small that it looked like a piece of frog turd at first(sorry for the way I'm describing the baby), it is smaller then a house fly(It is probably 1/4 of and inch).
How old do you think this juvi is? How long ago would you guess his egg was laid?
Will it do well on Springtails, and melanogasters? Can it even eat melanogasters?(I don't even know what his older brother was eating, since I didn't notice him til he was half the size of his parents).
How likely is it that there are others his size in te tank?
I looked at him with a magnifying glass. Does any of you notice newly metamorphasized babies having less strength, coordination in the legs and if so for how long did it last? The legs look perfectly formed and he is plump, but not so agile and strong as the parents.
I am so amazed at how tough these little guys are. I don't do anything but water, feed, clean up a little and they go to town! I don't even know sometimes all the life that is happening!!
Thanks folks,
Maggie
