Question and possible Idea

kingofspades Apr 11, 2005 06:14 AM

Are the pastel gene and the piebald gene on the same allelle?
If not, you could breed a pastel to a piebald and produce pastels het pied correct?
Breed two of them and make a super pastel pie bald.

Imagine how AWESOME that would look!

It's always possible that two mutations will turn out to be different mutant alleles of the same gene but I'm not aware of any indication that pastel and piebald are particularly likely to be alleles. Hopefully we'll start seeing Piebald combos this year. I suspect the delay has been that piebald is so stunning by it's self that people didn't feel the need to start working on combos very early and it takes a while to raise the double het piebald whatever girls up.
