BP Burned!!!

aliaime Apr 11, 2005 08:59 AM

My UTH was left on for 5 days. My digital timer malfunctioned and my BP apparently layed on top of the continuing heat. When I returned from vacation, I noticed some burning marks on her scales underneath...how do I treat this problem???? My BP is 2 1/2 years old and currently in a 55 gallon enclosure. Need advice asap.

A very similar question was asked on the Burmese forum. Your best bet would be a vet visit to determine the severity of the burn, and the appropriate treatment needed.

I agree with getting him to the vet. I had something like that happen and was told by the vet to put neosporin on it daily and to soak him in luke warm water. It took a few weeks but he recovered. But the last message said, a vet will better determin the degree of the burn.

....daily (because it rubs off quickly from the belly)...nix the warm water soaks UNLESS YOU ADD diluted povidone-iodine (Betadine) solution...plain water will only allow maceration of the tissues and easier bacterial entry into the denuded tissues...
