Albino ball pythons

JakeD Apr 11, 2005 01:55 PM

I'm not looking for anything outragous or expensive. I've owned a ball before but I sold him. I havent had one in a while and was looking at getting another one, just a little more on the exotic side. I am wanting a baby albino, something around 10-12 inches....nothing special. Does anyone know where to get one and how much they cost. Thank you in advance for all your help. Jake.

This years babies have started hatching, in the next couple of months you should see a lot becoming available, albinos are running at about $2000 .

Ok so $2,000 is a little out of my price range. Why is it that I can find a albino burmese python at almost every local pet store I go to and they only cost around $200? Why are albino balls so hard to come by? Thanks again. Jake

Ball pythons have much smaller clutch sizes. So it makes them much less available. And balls are a more popular snake.

Plus the Albino Burmese has been around almost twice as long as the Albino Ball Python.

Go with a pair of 100% hets then. Breed them in a few years and make some albino's of your own. That's the only way of entrance into this morph if you're strapped for cash. Although I said "only way", you could actually buy some possible het albino's if you wanted to. You have to run the numbers (time, cost, probability, etc) and see what makes the most sense for you.

With respect to their market price of $2,000 to $3,000, it's the market (supply/demand) coupled with their egg laying averages. Balls average four eggs to a clutch whereas other snakes can average much larger numbers, some in the double digits.

Good luck to you in whatever path you take for acquiring albino ball pythons. I own them and they are magnificent animals!

and balls don't get to 20 foot and 100 pounds......

balls average 7 or 8 eggs and burms average 20 eggs ( to 45).....

........

,,,,,,,,,smaller balls are better for people than a monster

(burms are nice and I love them but come on..too big.....)
