Home Depot has really fine sand blasting sand thats perfectly safe for about five dollars. I know people that have been using it for years and they told me about it. Its called SRI Supreme 30 mesh its been washed and kiln dried. I have my beardies and leopard geckos on it and have had them on it for a while now. It doesn't hurt them one bit and it comes in a 50 lbs bag thats red striped with a tan background.

Dose it leave dust on the lizards though. I have play sand in one of my tanks and it leaves powder on everything.

just a thought on the playsand...if you rinse it really well a few times then let it sun dry you should not have any dust problem. I know, bit of a pain, but it works and 50lb is like $4.50 at HD

All sand gives off dust but with the sand I'm using I don't have to much of a problem with dust on my reptiles.

make sure you get the white play sand and not the quickrete sand.
There is the quickrete concrete mix but there is also a quickrete sand. It is darker then the play sand and is wayyyyy too dusty. I made this mistake and within a couple of days everything in the tank was covered with sand including Sunna. My beardie in that tank. Went back to Lowes got the proper sand and all went well after that. The other tanks had the right sand and never got dusty. That led me to look more closely when I went back to the store.
If you get the right sand you won't have the dust. The bags look just alike.
At Home Depot or Lowes the play sand is only $2.99 for a 50lb bag.

If you live in florida, the Rinker concrete plants have a variety of sands that you can order by the truck load for cheap. Some of their sand has lime in it, so be sure to steer clear of that. The beauty of their sand is it's natural and rounded unlike playsand which has razor sharp edges. You can imagine what that must do to their insides when ingested. My local plant lets me have a 5 gallon bucket for free whenever I stop in cuz they literally sell it by the truck load.
