South African Rain Frogs...

Doug89 Apr 11, 2005 09:08 PM

Just read about them in a book and they are exetremely interesting. Just wondering if anyone knows anyone who imports them or something. They are only about 1.5" long but the interesting thing about them is that they lay eggs and the tadpole develops inside the egg and then baby frogs hatch out. If anyone has any information please post.

Yeah they have the same tadpole thing but they aren't as cool looking as say the Sand Rain Frog. These frogs are really boxy and have little mouths. Check them out on Mark Lucas' website in the Amphibian Gallery (i believe they are called Sand Frogs (from Kalahari) on his site. Thanks though.

Sorry I was scanning it and had a brain short and thought it said South American.

There is a good book called the Frogs of South Africa that should answer all of your questions on them.
