From two different Locales.
A lady gave me them yesterday. She had them devenomized 4 years ago. Not sure why.
But they are pretty. So thought I would share thier pics.

Those are some really nice pics of the speckled rattlesnakes. I really like the pic of the basin after the feast.

My question is?
The lady who gave you the speckled rattlesnakes supposedly de-venomized them? How dose this work? I thought the venom was used as an assistant to help de-mobalize the prey and then also to start the digestion process.

It would seem to me that if the venom was used to help digest, those snakes would start to become mal nourished and starve to death slowly.
Those snakes don’t appear to me to be starving at all. The glands also appear to be of decent size, leading me to believe there is still venom present.

I don’t want you to think that I am interested in venomoids. I am actually appalled when I here of people removing fangs or venom glands. If people cant accept an animal the way it is, they should accept that the animal is not for them.

It is simply something that has confused me when I here of a venomous reptile loosing something that it needs to survive.

I hope my post isn’t confusing to read, and don’t take it as anything negative toward you. I think that little basin rattlesnake is lucky to be in your care.

Stay safe;

Rattlesnakes often just have the ducts clipped...and the glands are left intact.
I have wondered if the venom is so important to digestion what happens with the hot snakes that are feed PK prey and inject no venom.
