I found the bull snake in Iroquois County, I have been skunked looking for bull snakes too many times. I finally found this guy hangin out near some fallen trees. He wouldn't sit still, he was very warm. The racer was from the other side of the state in Jo-Daviess County. Racers such as this are very common in the sandy prickly pear infested fields east of the big river, south of Galena, as are race-runners, fox snakes, and the occasional hognose. The garters are from my home town in Du-Page county, west of Chicago. Garters, Fox snakes, Dekays, and Northern water snakes are very abundant in the habitat near my home, as are tiger salamanders, grey tree frogs, chorus frogs, bull frogs, green frogs, leopard frogs, and american toads. I love them all.
