Do you have something rough in its enclosure, like a rock orlog, that he/she can rub against? This is how they do it in the wild. There is a product on the market (Shed-Ease, I think, is the name) that can help with the shedding process. Personally, I've never used it and prefer to let them shed on their own. Our Uros shed in patches. Sometimes it's just the head, another time it's the back or legs, etc. (Our Rainbow Benti seems to constantly be shedding on his back legs!) I've never known a Uro to shed in one piece. Too, they shed as they grow; I don't think there's a definate 'schedule' to it. I'm sure there's more to be said on this topic (please, chime in with something I might have overlooked!) but hope this information is of some help.

My mali Ra has gone through a complete shed just last month. At first, I was concerned because he was having a tough time getting it off. I thought about soaking him then changed my mind and let him be. As he got bigger, the skin came off all on its own. It came off in very large patches (legs, fingers, back, tummy, tail, and finally, head) and it only took him a week to complete. Don't worry if the skin stays on for a while longer, as your uro gets bigger the skin will be too small and fall off on its own.

Here's a pic of Ra near the end of his shed.
