YAY!! They're here!!!

Stryder Apr 12, 2005 11:55 AM

My loveley little sunglow lady is laying her eggs. I am so excited!

I am really hoping to have better luck than I did last year with her.

Jumping with anticipation, I want to go check on her every ten minutes!! (sigh......) However, I am being nice and leaving her be. I sneaked a peak and saw maybe 3 or 4 eggs. So, my question is, how long should I wait to remove the eggs to the incubator? I want to be sure she is done laying before I rudely disturb her.Last year it took her several days to lay tham all, and only one survived to hatching, and not much longer after that.

I want to be as polite as possible to her at this time.

Thanks.

First off congratulations. Isn't it exciting? Im glad you asked that question. Im sure leaving her alone until she is through laying is best. On the other hand when my girl was laying yesterday I removed them each just a few minutes after they were laid. The mom is the most gentle and probably the best behaved of all of my corns. Nothing ever seems to stress her. She is one of the snakes I take when I do shows. However the next to lay due in a week or two probably wont be so easy. She starts rattling and lunging at me before I can even get the lid off of her lay box. I think she is going to get all the time she needs to let go of her eggs before I try to remove them.
