Feeder Mice

Orocosos Apr 12, 2005 01:21 PM

I have a 3 year old California Kingsnake. He hasn't been eating for the past two weeks. The mice just don't get his attention. Should I be worried?

Also...Is it harmful to feed frozen mice that are over 1 year old to my Cal King?

Please let me know asap.

Not really much to worry about. I take it your snake is a male since you said "he". He's only got one thing on his mind this time of year. Sex! Do you female snakes around? I have several male snakes that haven't feed in six weeks. Make sure he has plenty of fresh water. He should start feeding within the next month or so. The year old frozen mice are fine also. But fresher mice are better. Use up the mice that are oldest first.

Hope this helps.

Heres one of my male Nuevo Leon kingsnakes(thayeri) that has not fed this year yet. I took him out of brumation Feb. 26

The head pattern is killer!
Was that the only oddball in the clutch?

I bought him from David Weymouth @ mountainkings.com. He's from his 2003 "A" clutch. If you thinks the sharktooth is cool you should take a look the first snake in 2003 "A" clutch. I also have 2 thayeri from his "B" clutch.

Here's another pic that shows him a little better from the side.

Chris,
That has to be the best Nuevo Leon I've seen.
Much nicer than this 2004 Nuevo Leon I traded.
Great pic,

Thanks other Chris. LOL

I like that one you show in the pic. I held one back from 2003 that looks alot like that. Nice white

The amount of red on the head of that Thayeri is AWESOME !!
The "sharktooth" pattern is very unique as well.
I wish I would have gotten him......you beat me to him ya know.....LOL

Here is one of my favorites......I love the orange head and tail on him. Hope he does well for me next year.

I did'nt know you bought one of those from Vivid also. That is a great looking variable.

jlassiter Apr 14, 2005 05:35 PM

I didn't buy this one.....I produced him in 2003 from my Vivid line of Thayeri.
He is one of my favorites ever that I produced......
Thanks Chris,

That sucker is a smoker. I thought for sure you bought that from Tim. You ought to be really proud of that one.
