The development of the stripe on a Basin Emerald.

lichanura Apr 12, 2005 03:55 PM

I tried to get a answer to this question elsewhere with no results, so let's try here.

Question about the stripe development on the Basin Emerald Treeboas. How do the stripes develope? That is, do the width and barbs visibly gradually increase or is it obvious only after a shed (like a new rattle after a rattler sheds)? Thanks

Stripes develop with age and before the animal complete its color change. You will first see orange scales lighten up and turn a peach color. This usually happens bordering the stripe or the area down the center of the back is there is no stripe. Any pictures of your animal?

Here is a picture taken right after the first shed.

Looks like there is a nice fuzzy stripe developing on that one!

Do you recognize this little guy? It is from one of your breedings. Great little guy.

I am hopeful that barbs will develop. I have a beautiful female that I want to eventually pair him up with.
