Hello all. I kept meaning to post this because I thought maybe we all could learn something. I had an unusual occurrance this winter and I wondered if anyone else had a better solution...
We had a terrible ice storm up here and lost electricity - it also made traveling hazardous. We don't have a generator and I was pretty worried about our reptiles. What I did have on hand was a bunch of those Thermocare heat pads - they heat up when exposed to air and are for muscle pains, for those of you who've never seen them. They bought me some time, that's for sure and everyone came through OK.
Obviously if the power is only out for a bit the house would retain its heat for a resonable time, but when it's out for extended periods it's a problem...
Is there anything else on the market that would be useable? Does anyone make a battery powered heat source?
Just wanted to throw around some ideas so that I'm prepared for next winter!
Take it easy,
-----
