HELP MY SNAKES ARE TRYING TO KILL THE PEOPLE IN MY TOWN...

shhawke Apr 12, 2005 07:17 PM

well i went to court today... the judge was having a really bad day i could tell... his wife must have told him NO before he went to work... lol

well he let the lady that caused all the comotion talk first and he asked her a few questions... like how long did she stay in the building??? 1.5 hours... and how many big snakes did she hold??? most of the adults... and then he asked her if she thought they were so dangerous then why would she stay so long and hold the "huge" snakes??? and she replied that she dident want to be rude...
then the judge looked at me and said... well, what do you think... and i just laughed and shook my head... he then made his rueling without me having to say anything... he dismissed the alligations of my snakes being dangerous and requested to bring his family by the building to see my snakes on friday...

so i guess i have nothing to worry about... i had a long speach all memorized and i dident get to use it... lol...

and possibly use it to help fight all the pending legislation across the country. Congratulations on your court victory!
It's about time the "snake people" won a round in the battle!

Hi shiloh

I think when the Judge comes by on Friday with his family you should give him a free baby snake. This way we will have a Judge on are side because he will now know that snakes are not bad pets after having one. You never know he maybe the one person that will stop these stupid laws that ban reptiles in your town.

Take care
Tom

i thought about getting the court documentation but because the alligations were dismissed all it says is "DISMISSED"... so it wouldent do us much good...

i was thinking about building a nice cage before friday and giving him a nice Peruvian to take home... he is an older guy and if i offer to provide it with free food he might enjoy it as a pet...

be careful, giving the judge a free snake and enclosure and food could definately be seen as payola. If there are people trying to cause trouble they could use that as ammo. Ok that's me being paranoid. I would wait to see if they ask or suggest that they may want a snake and then make them an unbelievable deal.
Hey just cause your paranoid does not mean they are not out to get you!

I'm so glad you are legally able to keep your animals in the new location. It is a major victory against that ignorant woman. I think you have an excellent opprtunity to educate the judges relatives. He sounds like a very fair and open minded person. Way to go!

I am so glad to hear the good news. Sounds like you were very lucky to have a judge with a lot of common sense. Thanks for sharing your good news.

The lesson that we should learn from this is to never show strangers our animals. Although we love them, most people are scared to death of them and don't want them anywhere near them. He$$, I hate large spiders. If my buddy Tommy the spider man moved next door to me, I would have large cans of Raid bug spray sticking out my windows.

Years ago I would take my large snakes out on the lawn and let them crawl around. Well, one day I couldn't find my pooch, so I knocked on the neighbors door across the street and they showed me pictures of my large snakes that they had taken. They had planned on complaining to the township, but after speaking with their granddaughter that I had gone to school with, they changed their mind. She told them they should be more afraid of me and what I might do. Lol. True story. They never would have won anything with the township anyway. It wasn't illegal, and the son of the Mayor had huge Burms at home. (Where have you been Drew?)

Anyway, I learned right there that I should keep my snakes inside, and not let people know. Although it is not illegal, it could easily become illegal with the wrong Mayor in your town.

ps. I wish I had known who their granddaughter was years earlier....she was hot. Lol.

I plan on showing my collection to lots of people... my snake are kept in escape proof cages just like most of the other people in here... so with that in mind i dont think i will be having any problems with my snakes later down the road...

i plan on bringing about 50-60 to my local schools and showing the kids the different snakes and explain the differences... i think that i will have better results if the kids understand that the snakes are not DEADLY ANIMALS... i cant remember who it was but i saw that another person in here took his snakes to his local school...
i feel that if were going to save this hobby for future generations we need to get those future generations likeing these animals and not thinking they are dangerous...

I just spent 20 minutes typing a reply out and it didn't post, so I hope it doesn't go up later so that there is 2 of the same thing. Lol

Anyway, going to educate at schools sound good in theory, but when I was in school the people that came in were local zoos and such. I have no idea your experience, so this was not meant as a put down. Please don't take it as one.

When you go to those schools, if the people your are trying to educate find out you have all those snakes in your home in a residential area, they might not be too happy. God forbid one of the teachers is from PETA. You WILL NEVER EDUCATE ANYONE FROM PETA ABOUT SNAKES!!!!! NEVER!!!! They will never like an animal that eats a furry rabbit. NEVER!!!! I actually respect PETA and what they do. I don't agree with it when it comes to snakes, but I respect their opinion.

Why don't you ask Pete Kahl what happened to him when his neighbor found out he had a snake building next door? I'll tell you. He spent $40,000 and lost, he had to move. This is after he won the first few rounds, but lost the final one. This was all because one neighbor didn't like snakes. His new home is paradise though, so it all worked out for the best. You might not be so lucky.

I suggest you don't flaunt your snakes in front of the lady that took you to court. She may not go away quietly. Ask Pete.

I'm sure your going to do what you want anyway, so good luck Shiloh. Remember though, you can only educate someone that wants to be educated. Some people don't want to be educated, they will hate snakes until the day they die.
