stimulating feeding in a leo

ktulu654 Apr 12, 2005 08:38 PM

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone had any experience getting a reluctant leo to feed. My female leo had what we believe to have been a partial obstruction which has passed. She has feed good a few times but in last few weeks i havent had her eat much and she is losing weight, 2.5g total from when i started waying her about a month and a half ago. I know this isnt alot of weight loss but she still will not eat much if she eats at all. Any suggestions on how to encourage her to eat would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Ktulu

Roaches work very well for all my geckos. Hopefully in a few month I'll have this new species blatta lateralis ready. I had two females stop eating after laying and they both jump all over these roaches.

Gently tap the edge of the mouth with food. If he is starving seriously, you may want to mix up a slurry and feed him with a syringe. Not necessarily force-feed him, but place a drop of the nutritious slurry on top of his nose, and he'll lick it off. Eventually he'll be licking off the whole content in no time.
