Why are all my eggs empty?

deepsea Apr 13, 2005 12:03 AM

Does anybody have any tips about my leopard gecko eggs? I have multiple females, and a couple of males. Every egg I have so far does not seem to be any good. Perhaps I do not know what a good egg looks like, but I am used to bearded dragon eggs that appear reddish a few days after laying. Are albino eggs a different color? I have tried switching out males, and I know they are mating. Whats Wrong?!

Why do you believe there is something wrong? Do you have the eggs set up, incubating? A good egg usually has the consistancy of a stale marshmallow--but you will not find that they change color, or do anything in particular other than remain that consistancy and very slowly grow as they develop.

They maintain the correct form, and do feel normal. I have them incubating. However, when I hold a flashlight up to them, they have a clear yellow look to them. Shouldn't I see some red embryo or something?

Sounds like they are infertile...is this female's first ever clutch?

I have many females, and some are their first clutches, and some aren't. I even tried different males with them. I just don't understand.

Did you wait a few weeks before candling them? They won't show red right away, so far as I recall, it takes a while for the embryo to develop to the point where you can candle them and see red. I've never candled mine--I just incubate them all until they collapse or hatch.
