What's wrong with his nose?

razordance Apr 13, 2005 08:31 AM

Over the past few days, we've noticed a blackish spot on Ike's nose. It kind of looks like a burn but I don't know how he would have burned himself there (He did once burn his spikes by sitting too close to the lamp, but he doesnt sit there with his face up towards the lamp). It doesnt seem to be bothering him, but I'm worried anyway. I'm wondering whether we should go to the vet, although it will be difficult since we currently have no transportation and our vet is out of town. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Maybe just from rubbing it against something? Note, I'm only worried about the mark on his nose, the one on his lower jaw turned out to be a piece of blackberry. Thanks

it could be from him rubbing on his cage or something around him, our iguana Ceaser tries to escape during the day , and rubs against the bottom of the door, we have since prevented this and he has healed,

It looks like cage rub. If it becomes an open wound, then go ahead and put a little Iodine on the wound (might bother them a little, but it's better then an infection). If it is not an open wound, do not do this. Also, be sure to make sure it's clean after eating. Small flakes of food can sit on the wound and rot out and infect it.
