BUM LEG ON BABY TURTLE

LRINGO Apr 13, 2005 04:22 PM

I have a small baby box turtle less than a year old. i have had her (I THINK HER) for about 6 months. i clean her cage 2 or 3 times a week and she gets fresh water every day.i feed her in a seperate dish and then let her just crawl around my house and the other day i noticed a large blister on her hind leg up where it bends and goes into the shell ( I think its her knee) it had a peace of what looked to be feather in that crack so i got it out and rinsed her with perodixide but now 2 days later the blister hasent gone away and her little foot is still swolen she doesnt want to come out of her hiding spot in her cage and she hisses at me when i try to get her. i know shes mad because i was messing with her leg and she doesnt want me to any more but im worried do i need to take her to the vet. is there anything i can do for her now. please help

The poor baby. Yes, she definately needs to go to the vet. It sounds like an infection to me with the swelling. I'm guessing she's hissing because it's painful.
