basking question...

lele Apr 13, 2005 05:49 PM

beardie boy has a basking site that stays around 105 (rock) and another that is about 95 (branch). He spends minimal time on the higher one and more on the lower as well as a piece of corkbark. I am beginning to think he pefers the "feel" of the wood and wondering if I should re-adjust or can I trust him to know where and how long he should be in each spot? He seems fine in every other way

thx

It is more than just temperature. For babies it is important to have a diagnal basking spot for better digestion and to reduce chances of impaction. If possible, arrange it so the branch gets more heat.

so the flat rock (hot spot) is not best for digestion? OK, I did not know this, glad I asked (and I thought it was a lame question!) I will make some changes - thanks!

Bennet, I can't find the word diagnal in any dictionary (I'm wondering if you meant diagonal), but are you telling this person the flat rock is not as good as anything else as far as a basking spot? If so what is your theory based on?
