Three part question to all " successfull " breeders of B.C.C. Localities " PLEASE CONTRIBUTE. "

madisonrecords Apr 13, 2005 06:00 PM

The last few years, I have been compiling data using breeding strategies from different breeders around the country. Alot of this is done by phone with breeders I know, but hopefully the rest of the community will contribute. I need to know; " What time of year you guys are putting Surinames and Guyanas together and when you are getting ovulation and when you are getting parturition? Also when you are putting Peruvians together and other lacalities that fall under B.C.C. Their ovulation and parturition and if you are cycling? " When giving this info, I also need to know what state that you live in and the general area? I am taking this info and compiling it with temperature and Barometer readings from each particular state and also from the region that the particular B.C.C. would have originated in the wild. In the end, I should have a hypothosis that will be very interesting to you guys or you can just bash it, whatever works. I have been working on this for a while and your help is appreciated and when done I will gladly share the info. If you would rather send it by e-mail, send it to......madisonrecords@comcast.net......Thanks, in advance.......Johnson Herp........Remember; " If you have not actually produced babies, you will not be much help, so I need info from actuall successfull attempts. "

but I think I might be blessed this year. I'm going to keep this really short cause I'm pressed for time. I reside in Union City Ca. It is right above San Jose. I started putting my BCC together in March and April....namely Peruvians and so far this year the females seem receptive and I have copulation with 2 pair. I didn't find the barometric pressure had a lot to do with the BCC contrary to what I expected although I can see a DEFINITE pattern in the BCI. Gotta run I'll elaborate more later. Oh one quick thing... I find that I get more courting action from my Peruvians if I run my temps a little higher...weird huh?

It would be nice if some others would contribute, when I get this all put together, it could really be some worthwhile information, maybe I am just asking to much, but I pretty much have it already together. Good luck with your Peruvians, I found out years ago, that April through June are the primary Months for ovulation and yes, higher temperatures did and do seem to be a key factor. In the mid 90s, I tried to cool them and breed them in the fall and winter and never got any results. This is the whole point of my survey, " I definately believe that different boas from different Localities, have different times of year that they need to be put together and through this info I am putting together, I hope to show what correlations are between these times and other big key factors such as, location in the U.S. and rainfall in a given area and Barometer readings and how many are still relying on artificial cycling. " It will not be hard to put together a good hypothosis once I have all the info needed......Thanks.......Johnson Herp
