New Boa Owner - Question about coloration.

fhuici Apr 13, 2005 06:43 PM

I recently got into Boa's. I started with 2 baby Suri's (one from Barry Miller which is absolutely gorgeous!) and a baby Anery Columbian. I fell in love with Boa's so much that I went out and purchased an adult normal Columbian. She's really light in color with a lot of pink on the sides which I truly love. Anyway, my question is, I recently noticed that the black speckling around the belly area is really hazy and cloudy. I don't recall seeing her eye's get cloudy so I don't think she's in shed. Is that a normal sign of shedding or is that normal on some Boa's. I tried taking some pictures but I have a really cheap, old 1.2 megapixel camera that really sucks at close up pictures. Anyway, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Frank

Sounds like she is preparing to shed. Its important to not disturb her at this time. Good luck with your boas.

the first sign of shedding. Her eyes will go cloudy in a day or two. Nothing to worry about.

I plan on getting a suri from Barry. Which one did you get? Also why did you decide to go with suris for first boas, as they are kind of costly.

They are doing great. I tell you what, I got my first suri from a local breeder. I had already purchased one from Barry but he hadn't shipped it yet when I purchased the first one. I can't emphasize enough how much I wish I would have waited to get the one from Barry before purchasing from someone else. There is no comparison between Barry's and the other suri. Don't get me wrong, the other suri is very nice and clean, but no way does it compare to Barry Miller's suri. Now I'm looking at selling one of my Ball Python's and that first suri so I can get another one from Barry. There's a show this weekend and I hope I can sell them.

I highly, highly recommend Barry Miller and his prices are awesome and you definitely get your money's worth. Oh, and why suri's for my first Boa, I really don't know. It just kind of happen that way. Oh, I purchased M8 from his B litter. It's a super, super clean, very light, with a nice tail & saddles! I'm just in love with that snake. Can you tell? I have 8 other snakes, but that suri from Barry is by far my favorite. It surpassed my Jayapura Green Tree Python who until recently was my favorite.

Anyway, good luck with your Boa and definitely go with Barry. He has the nicest Boa's around. Trust me, I did my research.

Barry, I'm so in love with the M8, litter B that I'm coming back for more. Just give me a couple of months and I'll be calling you again.

You are the MAN!

Thanks
Frank

Wow! All of you praise is making me really excited. I'm getting female #4 litter D, hopefully I will receive her by next week. She's $450 but I think it will be worth it. I am very happy that you are satisfied with your suri and I probably will be too.

Here she is:
