Chris wanted a better pic of this cage so here it is.
I made it out of 3/4" poplar and its sealed with an outdoor polyurethane...its called helmsman (or somthing similar..LOL)
The total size is 4x4x2 and as you can see its divided to give me two cages...i also built removable dividers that i can put in and have 4 individual cages if i would like.
The bottom cage has a 1 1/2" dowel perch to give my carpet somthing to sit on.
I've been using it for over a year now and the finish has held up really well.

Thanks for the picture, that's a great dual-cage.

I'm guessing you used Helmsman Spar Urethane.

Did it look like this?

If so, I can see why it was a pain to apply. I like spar urethane but have always wondered if those semi-flexible solids are safe. That stuff is known to offgas for years.

I'm glad to hear you're not having any problems with it.
