All Wandering Jew safe?

benA Jul 10, 2003 02:13 PM

I have read that Wandering Jew is good for tortoise grazing. Are all types of Wandering Jew safe? or are any types not safe? And do they flower?

Thanks

I do not see wandering jew on my list of dangerous plants, however, I don't see it on my list of beneficial plants either.

Nutritious plants for turtles/tortoises:

Alfalfa
Apple
Banana
Barley
Beans
Beets
Blackberries
Blueberries
Cactus
Carrots
Clover
Corn
Dandelion
Grapes
Hibiscus
Kale
Millet
Mustard
Nasturtium
Okra
Parsley
Pea
Pumpkin
Soybean
Squash
Strawberries
Sunflower
Timothy
Tomato
Turnip
Wheat
Zucchini

I'm sure that there are many more. Feel free to add to this list.

I am curious - when you state a fruit or vegie such as apple or tomato or carrot, are you talking about the fruit itself or the greens from the plant that bears the fruit?

Unless specified. Tomatoe for instance is a 'nightshade' which is essentially poisonous but the fruits are not.

Usually the plant material is called out separately like hibiscus and hibiscus leaves are edible.
