Florida?

toaster529 Apr 13, 2005 10:51 PM

Anyone have any idea what I would need to do if I relocated to Florida w/ an:

American Alligator
Nile Croc
Spec Caiman
Dwarf Croc
Morelets
?

I'm guessing there are some sort of hoops I will need to bring them into the state when (if) I move there.

Ohio is pretty cool but the climate sucks for all this croc stuff. Wait, no... It sucks in general.

Thanks for any info.

Greg

Hey greg,

I was wondering whether you happened to get my email or not? If not I will give it another whirl.

You are 100% correct, the climate here does suck! As far as the law is concerned, I am not sure whether or not you would be allowed ownership of the alligator, but I am pretty sure you can take everything else. I am hoping to start a crocodilian rescue/rehabilitation center here in Ohio in the future. I am not quite sure at this point about indoor housing, but I still have a little bit of time to come up with some options.

Good Luck with which ever decision you make!!

not all counties or cities will allow you to keep dangerous animals within there limits. if you move here you have to provide document on how long you had the animals . you can't legally own an alligator for a pet only education proposed only. the croc is a class 1 animal ,the caiman class 2 and the gator class 3. i have all 3 classes of permit for crocodilians .the state will probably give you a hard time about the croc and the gator.you need 5 acres of land for a class 1 animal.before they even issue you a permit you have too have the ponds made the and area where you are going to keep them. hopefully you get a good game warden that comes out to inspect your setup. i live in miami. if you ever come down i'll show you my setup. i have a 6 1/2 foot nile croc and a 5 1/2 spectacle caiman. arthur
