female BTS must be waiting for a ring to give it up. suggestions on the scenario

hello I have been trying to breed my two bluetongues this year. I did the cooling and everything went great. I brought them out of cooling the last week of feb. and I've been trying to breed since march. the male seems to be doing his best to get some but the female is aggressive. I separate them once she gets hold of his leg, and they have even locked jaws twice. he still has almost got to the glory land twice but she barley keeps him off. I am sure of the sexes. they are both 4 yrs old. should I keep trying or is she just not willing to give it up.. As soon as I put her in his cage she becomes defensive. keeping him in front and even attacking before he gets the chance to try and mate. I usually separate them for two days between fights. and I try breeding before noon because he always leaves his manhood in the cage just after or just before noon.

any suggestions appreciated

I haven't bred skinks, but I would suggest trying by putting him in her enclosure. May not work, but she may be more defensive in a strange surrounding, and maybe feel more secure in her own environment. Of course, she may be even more defensive of her own area. Just a thought.
