tredding Apr 14, 2005 11:19 AM

Well from what the vet was saying we would see improvements in the belly rot last. But it looks like after three shots it is already dissapating. Great news. two more shots to go

P.S. do you think it is to soon to offer food. I was thinking tomorrow

The recent pic looks like the animal will be shedding soon so might not eat anyway. I'd wait until after shed to feed. Recovery from the infection is tough enough without the added stress of having to digest food. In less than a week it most likely will have shed, the infection will be gone, and will be good to go.

The boa looks great! It could've been far worse if it was left with the original owner. I've seen them with blisters full of fluid once. Not a good sight. But, yours looks like it's improving alot. I personally would offer food to it (only because its great progress) , but something smaller than it would normally eat. Then just keep a watchful eye over him/her. Great job at nursing him back! =)

I personally would just treat the animal and allow her/him to recover fully with the antibiotics before i tried to feed the animal.. It doesnt look like it is underweight in the pictures so i wouldnt risk the added stress of feeding the animal.. its alot ofwork for these animals to digest food and uses alot of energy which could/should be going towards healing from the infection. I wouldnt risk feeding until all the treatment was done...IMHO

Sincerley,
Rose HIpskind

PS... The pictures look like the animal is healing wonderfully

I am looking at her and the belly does look like she might be going into shed although the rest of her and her eye is clear. I gues we will see in the next cuple days. The red blood spots regardlee are smaller and more diffused looking that they were.
I will probably hold off on the food for a week and see wheree we are.
Thanks
Travis
