Is there such thing as too much food?

jgamboa888 Apr 14, 2005 05:44 PM

Kind of ironic how a few days ago I was posting abou concerns about my beareded dragon NOT eating. Well now he is eating like there is no tomorrow. For the past 3 days he's ate about 25-30 silkies, good sized ones too (not too big) each day. His gut is getting huge! He is pooping and everything but I'm worried i'm feeding him too much. Is that possible? I hear babies (hes about 1-2 months not sure exatly) can eat forever, but as well all know silkies can really thin your wallet. Any suggestions?

P.S. He still won't touch crickets, unless they stand right in front of him and wait patiently. LOL

You can raise silkworms. Let a bunch reach full size, spin up, pupate, emerge then mate them - you will end up with hundreds of eggs and can harch out what you need.

I switched bd boy's food tub b/c today there were too many crix in it and he was afraid to get in! So I used the water bowl (which he doesn't use). it is wider so he is quite comfy in it. It is a pot tray but has a glaze on the inside so the crix cannot get out. I took some pix for you

So you might try the "tub" approach to get him to eat crickets

Thanks lele, I'll try it tomorrow, hes sleeping right now. It seems you are just as informative here than you are in the chameleon forums that I hear you've spent so many years on!!

I'll try to get pics ASAP!!

lol! The cham forum was so supportive thru some loss and helpful with Luna, so I am glad to help where I can. I work from home so it probably seems that I just sit here watching each post until I can reply - honestly, I don't! I get bored with work so I pop to the forums (not a good thing!!) I have been told "get a life" (in jest - I think ;-/), deemed "den mother" "genius" (funny story behind that one) and as of late - goddess. Ha-Ha

good luck with your little guy - whole different ball game than the chams. huh??? My little guy is doing great - still no name, though...
