pleased to meet you. i kinda just showed up and all one day after my first satanics bred and laid eggs for me. so i guess its a bit overdue for me to introduce myself, anyway there seems to be a lot of new people around here recently... so here it goes.
my name is mike, im a 23 yr old zoology senior at nc state in raleigh (ill be graduatating in about a month!), i've been into herps ever since i caught my first frog back when i was like 6 or so. believe it or not, i can actually remember it (a normal lil green frog), as well as my first bullfrog (he croaked a lot!), my first turtle (a snapper), my first snake (garter snakes used to be all over my yard in CT), and my first lizard (a baby green anole in florida). anyway, as a kid i was really into turtles since we didnt have lizards in ct, but of course i loved all herps. today, im mostly into geckos. my first gecko was actually a mediterranean, but ive moved onto much bigger things now (as many of you know). now heres the list of my current herps, with 2 added just last night!
1.2 pietschmanni (hope to get another male soon)
1.2 henkeli
1.1 sikorae sikorae
6.9.3 phantasticus (my pride and joy!)
1.4.2 rhacodactylus ciliatus
1.0 trachemys scripta elegans (my very first pet, since i was 7)
wow, i just realized thats 33 gex and a turtle. whew. and i have more and more hatching all the time, not to mention more and more being laid all the time. i dont know how i came across uroplatus, but i just love em. hopefully my success these past two years with phantasticus spreads to the other species, and hopefully when i graduate and get a REAL job ill still be able to maintain this ever-growing habit/obsession/hobby.
oh yea...and if any of you know of any good herpetology jobs with any openings, let me know! im gonna need a job soon! hopefully theres more to hear about some of you other people.
