is there an easy way to tell these two snakes apart? i dont want to over pay for a nelson just because the seller tells me its a honduran. ive seen many pics of these snakes but they look alike to me.

Several thoughts:
If you can get to some shows, look at lots of each and eventually the differences will become more apparent.
Hondurans usually have a black snout (on normals; you can translate for amelanistics) with a colored band immediately behind the snout; nelsoni usually have some white on the snout but not the solid black-white band-black head definition.
The seller may have some het siblings, too, and it may be easier for you to ID them.
Ask to see the parents.
Buying based on trust might be important for you in this case, too: If you're buying from people whom you can't trust to properly identify the subspecies, you certainly can't trust them not to sell you a hybrid. Many hybrids can look very much like one of the parent subspecies. But many of us try to avoid hybrids. So I think you'd be especially well served if you sought to find a seller you feel you can trust--ask your friends, for example. Or ask the seller for references and then ask the references.
