Still just one egg?

gauchobry Apr 14, 2005 11:43 PM

Has anyone else had a leopard drop just one egg? I am sure that I did not miss one but I am really confused. She is eating now and getting plumped up again. There is no sign of any vent problems to indicate egg binding either. Just baffled. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks,

Bryan

I've heard of it happening with first time breeders. Does it look like she's still holding an egg?

This happens with most first time breeders, and even mroe if they are small and young. Also, first timers eggs aren't always firtile.

She just needs go get the hang on this and she will be an egg machine.

Thanks for the replies,

Unfortunately, she is at least 2-3 years old (got her as an adult last Spring) and this is her fourth clutch- at least. Is it possible there may have only been one egg to begin with on this clutch (she has always laid two at once before this time)? I am not really sure if she has another egg in her. She has always been pretty round so it was always difficult to tell whether she was gravid. She is in her humid mide so I have my fingers crossed. Any suggestions at what I should look out for or do for her?

Thanks again,
Bryan

Is this her 4th clutch this season or her life time?

Maby just this time she didn't have enough food or Ca to make another egg.

But even 2 year olds will lay one egg if its the start of the season.

If you bought her as an adult, could she be older than you thought? Old females are said to sometimes only lay one egg. o_O My female is only four years old, so I wouldnt know from experiance, only from what I have read.
