i took my female RES out to the backyard to lay eggs and i left her there. every few minutes I went to check up on her and she was digging so I left her there. The next time I was there she was gone, no sign of her. It's been 2 days already and it seems hopeless. I looked everywhere 4 her. She has no way of escaping the yard on her own. Do you suppose a cat or bird got her? She is awfully large (13cm) and heavy, that's why it seems weird to me that an animal took her. Any suggestions??

Keep looking around your yard. The most likely predator that would carry her off would be doing it at night and it would be a raccoon.

Good luck

did you look in the hole that she was digging? maybe she buried herself?

I looked everywhere. I dug in a few places around the yard and found nothing, no eggs, no turtle. No raccons hang around here, only cats and birds. It seems weird that a cat might have caught her since she is so big...
