do bd's eye bulge? ...and snoozing

lele Apr 15, 2005 09:13 AM

I was watching bd boy basking with his eyes shut (that is something to get used to since it is usually a symptom in chams) and it looked like his little eyes were bulging - they were closed. I am used to it in cham's but didn't know these guys did, too!

Also, I know it is OK for them to close their eyes while basking but he does it a lot. he opens them and is alert at the slightest sound/motion and is fine in every other way so I am guessing it is normal and I need to adjust.

btw, he is 2 months, happy, eating, pooping...all this things a bd is supposed to do

thx,
lele

Sounds like he is napping. Baby bearded dragons seem to nap more on their basking spot than adults do. As for the bulging eyes, often they bulge out their eyes to loosen the skin during shed.

yes, but I am so used to chameleons and it is a BAD sign for them to have closed eyes during the day so I am just trying to figure what is normal for this guy. He is doing everything else just fine so I have fisnished worrying - for now! lol!

my guy likes to shut just one eye at a time...when I see him do this, I just wink back...

my guy does that, too! I watched one day to see if he was doing it to home in on a cricket or something! It is so cute - and they look like they have lashes!
