I have 2 gracefull chameleons (C Gracilis)
The guy I bought them from kept them together and so have I too for the last 3 months.
Here recently the boy has decided it is mating season and my girl hasn't been so happy.
They started fighting, my boy started passing the cage and wanting out, so I separted them.
He wasn't very happy in his new cage and cont. roamed about.
on day 3 he started turning really dark and was hanging on the mesh on the side bottom of his cage.
She also turned a dark olive color.
I got worried and put them back together.
This time they mated, and she didn't attack him.

Since then he cont. to seem very unhappy with his cage.
I put her in the new cage and him in the old cage and that hasn't helped much either.
He seems unhappy with or without her.
HAs anyone had this happen, or have any advice?

Thanks for the help.

Chams are not social animals. Your male is upset at the different cage, not because he misses the female. Any changes in his territory will upset him temporarily. You should NOT be keeping these two together! Separate them! Just make sure the male's cage is the same temp, humidity and lighting that he's used to. That will help him settle down. You will need to make sure the two can't see each other...especially now that the female may be gravid. She will be very easily stressed seeing the male or other pets. You will also need to read up on how to care for a gravid female and prepare an egg laying bin for her when the time comes. There are good care articles on this site you should read:

Thank you both for the help.
I have kept them separate since I read your posts.
The girl is in the new cage, she seems happy with it.
The boy is in the other and still seems unhappy.
Hopefully you are right and he will calm down soon.

Once Again thanks for the help and the sites
