Question for Chris Harper, JustCages, or anyone who knows woodworking really well.

I'm trying to think of the term used in this siatation. When you are using a 1/4" plywood back, you take a dado blade and cut a groove 1/4" deep into the back pieces of the frame, and inset the back into this. I can't think of the name, if you know it please tell me.
Thanks!

That is commonly refered to as a rabit.
Like the vermin you feed to your 12 foot snake.

What he said, but it's spelled rabbet or sometimes rabet.

Just in case you're doing a google search and need the proper spelling.

It is called a rabbet. However, if using 1/4" plywood, it is not 1/4" thick, it is a hair under. For this you'd need to use a plywood router bit. They are a hair undersized to match the thickness of plywood

This is the link for that router bit.

I just did mine with a dado blade, I've made them i'm just considering putting a howto website together on this because i've had so many people ask how to do them, and I wanted to use the proper terminology.

thanks.
