Many years ago I had baby melanistic garters. They were very velvety and had blueish-white throats. Otherwise solid black. Is this typical? Are there variations among melanistic garter patterns, blackness, etc.?
Do they get as big as other Easterns? What is a "big" melanistic compared to a "big" normal eastern? I got the impression melanistics are not as big as some of the big easterns I've run across.
Is there a variation of prices depending on appearance?

The color doesn't seem to have any effect on their size. My melanistic female is about 26" long, Tom Dickinson's is a little over 3' long. There is a little variation on the amount of white on the throats of the melanistics. They sell for pretty much the same price. Other color variations can cost more.
