Custom Modifications: What type of GLUE?

austonhorst Apr 17, 2005 12:22 AM

I am working on some custom modifications to a cage i have. I will be splitting the cage in half using aluminum track and custom cut glass. I want the glass to be removable to I can expand when my snakes get bigger. However all of the glues that i find are either toxic, cant be used on metal, or so on. Is there any non-toxic glue that will work for metal and glass?

Try 100 % silicone. Just let it air for a day or so. Should work fine.

100% silicone is definately the product to use, but you need to wait WAYYYY longer than one day! We're talking about probably 3-4 weeks to let the product completely outgas. What I would reccomend is GE Silicone 2. not silcone 1. The silicone 1 is a latex/silicone blend, silicone 2 is 100% silicone. The only one you can use safely with only letting outgas for a number of days is the one designed for fishtanks. Even then, you need to wait at least a week.

Note: this stuff sells for about $5/tube. don't be cheap.
