I know a lady who's got a Riley's(?) turtle and wants to give it away. It's about 3-4 inches. I want to take it, but what do Riley's look like and where do they come from? Do they mix well with other turtles?

There are no turtles with that common name. There is a ridley's turtle. But it's a marine turtle...so therefore would be highly illegal to own in the U.S.
There is an organization called "The Heart" which headstarts the endangered Kemp's Ridley by transferring the eggs from Mexico to Texas and releasing juveniles there. Is this a possibility? Perhaps to monetarily sponsor a Riddley?
I think I just darn ran into a crackpot who didn't know his turtles. That is, the person putting this turtle up for adoption. They still don't know what kind of turtle it is, but thanks to you all, he realized it wasn't a sea turtle.
